Thanks for the tip. I’d already planned to visit Cango Caves so will add an ostrich ride to my itinerary. And where gungy clothes.

Wow, definitely sounds like an unforgettable experience… grabbing a beer, watching the sunrise, then riding an ostrich… sounds like a great trip!

That must’ve been an awesome (albeit quirky) experience! I loved Oudtshoorn. Stayed at the Queen’s Hotel – they have a great restaurant (Colony) where I had my first taste of crocodile carpaccio. Pretty amazing! I can also recommend a drive from Oudtshoorn via Mieringspoort to Prince Albert, then through the Swartberg Pass & over the Swartberg mountains back to Oudtshoorn & stopping at the Cango Caves or Cango Wildlife ranch along the way. It’s a fantastic drive with unforgettable scenery!

Man, you guys rocked for getting on those things. Remember the mad dash run that two of the seasoned jockeys did for us right before we left? The jockey’s were really little guys and those ostriches were FAST. I mean faster than a race horse, they almost seemed, driving-on-the-highway fast. I’m sure that’s just how it looked, but I was amazed at just the sheer speed of it. And remember when they had some of us STAND on the ostrich eggs to show how strong the shells were. All that, and ostrich is mighty tasty too. Even if it’s not a good as kudu, YUM!
