Though it’s expensive i also agree that Zermatt is the place to for for winter activities. Just catching a glimpse of Zermatt views will make you understand that this place offers the best sights of Alps.

Indeed Zermatt is a beautiful place, both in winter and in summer. True that it is possible to ski also in summer, but it’s certainly not the best period and hiking is far more rewarding. True that Zermatt is expensive, but not unaffordable and not much more than many other places. Besides, in Switzerland you can choose a very simple accomodation and be sure that it will be cosy, extremely clean and offering a great breakfast. I can assure you that in Italy there are places as expensive as Zermatt but surely not worth the money they cost.

Zermatt is by far the best money I have invested in a snowboarding vacation, and Switzerland is by far my favourite country to have visited so far (25+ and counting). I spent 10 days in Zermatt in Feb 2008 and loved it. I heartily recommend Zermatt to anyone I meet!

I am so excited to see this article about one of my favorite places! After I read a book that was set in Zermatt, I had to visit. We had the chance to go four years ago and had an amazing time! Although it is extremely expensive, it was worth it for us. We were there in the summer but the skiing was still great!
