Christie has done a great job in so few words of encapsulating Malta, and not just repeated off-pat the regular tourist fare. It's really not common knowledge that Malta is so close to Sicily (70km) and so accessible that the two can be combined on one holiday. Neither island really does cross marketing of this as they probably want to keep all tourism cash for themselves. If anyone wants to know more about the logistics of either doing a day trip to Sicily or about getting around Malta's huge neighbour on a longer stay, try this for starters. http://www.maltainsideout.com/1332/sicily-a-stones-throw-from-malta/

A Sicily/Malta trip? What a fantastic idea. I'd think I might try to work in Sardinia too.
