Sadly most people miss it because most of these resorts are so expensive …4 figures a night. We had two Mai Tai’s at one ( plus one virgin Mai Tai) and the bill was almost 50 bucks to give you some idea of what scares people away from Bora Bora.

For those seeking a fantasy or special occasion, these resorts certainly are wonderful, but there are other ways to actually experience Bora Bora like a local ( and experiencing the luxury of the hotels too without staying overnight) on a very low budget. We only spent 350 dollars total for 3 people for almost a week in Bora Bora while also easily spending some time at several of these hotels.

The plane ride into Bora Bora is spectacular & the lovely lagoon boat ride in is part of the cost of the flight. We’ll be back for a long stay & to check out more of these beautiful islands as we only had time for 3 this time.
