insurance291Addo Elephant Park is a one hour drive north from Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The park, which is home to more than 450 elephants, offers a wide variety of game viewing, outdoor adventure, accommodation and cultural experiences. I visited the park as part of a small group adventure during the month of November. The spring is a great time to visit Addo as you drive through miles of citrus trees bearing fruit blossoms that scent the air.

Upon arriving in Addo, I was immediately overtaken by the unprecedented terrain that includes dense inland bush valley which winds along the Sundays River all the way to the sea. Also included is a marine reserve containing Africa’s largest populations of penguins and gannets. Visitors can’t help but notice the presence of the unique flightless dung beetle which became a hot topic in our 14 seat Sprinter. Apparently the dung beetle is found almost exclusively in Addo.

dung_beetle_cautionThe reason so many people visit Addo Elephant Park is because it is one of the few places on earth containing the ‘Big 7′ which includes: elephants, lions, buffaloes, leopards, rhinos, whales and great white sharks!
